The pre-Linnean work, Plantae selectae..., was written in Latin by Christoph Jacob Trew, illustrated by the draftsman Georg Dionysus Ehret, with the printmaker Johann Jakob Haid. Its ten volumes featured fifty-six double-page plates as hand-colored etched engravings.
